    What are Skills?

In Adventures of Conquest, a skill represents knowledge and aptitude.
    Examples for Skills are:

Two skills can be chosen for every player character during character creation, with a limited selection. However, every character can learn every skill, and there are more to discover during gameplay (bought or found).

All skills can be leveled from 1 to 100, and leveling a skill will also reward the player characters with experience points (EXP) for their main level.

To level up a skill, it simply has to be used. And there are three main ways to do this, described below.

A character with three skills, one of which is at level 6.

    Skills and Abilities

Every single Ability in the game belongs to a Skill. As such, a player character needs to know the respective skill in order to use that Ability.

An ability that belongs to the Light Magic Skill, and requires a Skill level of 5 to cast it.

Every time an Ability is successfully cast by a player character, they are rewarded with some experience (EXP) for the Skill it belongs to.

The amount of EXP rewarded depends on the current Skill level of the player character, and the required Skill level of the Ability.

In a nutshell: If it is currently harder to cast, it will reward more EXP. If it is easier to cast, it will reward fewer EXP.

    Skills and Weapons

Some weapons in the game require a certain Skill in order to be equipped. A player character without the required Skill will not be able to wield the weapon.

Every time a weapon with a Skill-Requirement is used in combat, the wielding player character receives a small amount of EXP for the respective Skill.

The skill 'Staffs' is needed in order to wield this weapon type.

    Skills and Crafting

Every single Crafting Recipe in the game belongs to a Skill. As such, a player character needs to know the respective skill in order to craft the items in question.

The Skill 'Engineering' is required to craft Dynamite.

Every time a Crafting Recipe is successfully used to craft an item, the crafting player character is rewarded with some experience (EXP) for the Skill the recipe belongs to.

The amount of EXP rewarded depends on the current Skill level of the player character, and the required Skill level of the Crafting Recipe.

In a nutshell: If it is currently harder to craft, it will reward more EXP. If it is easier to craft, it will reward fewer EXP.
